Today is a day worthy of permanent commemoration by the people of the world. Today, 70 years ago, after 14 years of arduous struggle, the Chinese people won the great victory of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression and declared the complete victory of the world anti fascist war. The sun of peace once again shines on the earth.

Here, on behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the National People's Congress, the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference and the Central Military Commission, I would like to pay high tribute to the old soldiers, old comrades, patriots and anti Japanese generals who participated in the Anti Japanese War, and to the Chinese children and girls at home and abroad who have made great contributions to the victory of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japan! I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the foreign governments and international friends who supported and helped the Chinese people resist aggression! I'd like to extend a warm welcome to all the guests and military friends from all over the world who attended today's conference!

Ladies and gentlemen, comrades and friends!

The Chinese people's war of resistance against Japan and the world's anti fascist war are decisive battles of justice and evil, light and darkness, progress and reaction. In that tragic war, the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japan started the earliest and lasted the longest. In the face of the aggressors, the Chinese people persevered and fought bravely. They completely defeated the Japanese militarist aggressors, safeguarded the civilization achievements of the Chinese nation for more than 5000 years, safeguarded the cause of human peace, and created a spectacle in the history of war and the great feat of the Chinese nation.

The victory of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japan is the first complete victory of China's resistance against foreign invasion since modern times. This great victory completely smashed the Japanese militarism's plot to colonize and enslave China, and washed away the national humiliation of China's repeated defeats in fighting against foreign aggression since modern times. This great victory has reestablished China's position as a great power in the world and won the respect of peace loving people in the world. This great victory opened up a bright prospect for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and opened a new journey of Nirvana and rebirth of the ancient Chinese phoenix.

In that war, the Chinese people supported the eastern main battlefield of the world anti fascist war with great national sacrifice and made great contributions to the victory of the world anti fascist war. The Chinese people's war of resistance against Japan has also been widely supported by the international community. The Chinese people will always remember the contributions made by the people of all countries to the victory of China's Anti Japanese war!

Ladies and gentlemen, comrades and friends!

People who have experienced war know more about the value of peace. To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japan and the world anti fascist war, we should remember history, cherish the memory of the martyrs, cherish peace and create a future.

The war spread throughout Asia, Europe, Africa and Oceania, with more than 100 million casualties in the army and the people, including more than 35 million in China and 27 million in the Soviet Union. It is our best memorial to the heroes who died in order to safeguard human freedom, justice and peace, and the innocent souls who were slaughtered.

War is a mirror, which can help people better understand the value of peace. Today, peace and development have become the theme of the times, but the world is still far from peaceful, and the sword of Damocles of war is still hanging on the head of mankind. We should draw lessons from history and strengthen our determination to maintain peace.

For the sake of peace, we should firmly establish a sense of community with a shared future for mankind. Prejudice and discrimination, hatred and war can only bring disaster and suffering. Mutual respect, equal coexistence, peaceful development and common prosperity are the right ways in the world. All countries in the world should jointly safeguard the international order and system with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter as the core, actively build a new type of international relations with win-win cooperation as the core, and jointly promote the lofty cause of world peace and development.

For the sake of peace, China will always adhere to the path of peaceful development. The Chinese nation has always loved peace. No matter where it develops, China will never seek hegemony, never engage in expansion, and will never impose its own miserable experiences on other nations. The Chinese people will adhere to friendly relations with the people of other countries in the world, resolutely defend the victory of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japan and the world anti fascist war, and strive to make new and greater contributions to mankind.

The Chinese people's Liberation Army is the people's children's soldiers. All army officers and men should bear in mind the fundamental purpose of serving the people wholeheartedly, faithfully perform the sacred duty of safeguarding the security of the motherland and the people's peaceful life, and faithfully implement the sacred mission of safeguarding world peace. I announced that China will reduce its military personnel by 300000.

"There is no beginning, but there is an end to fresh control." To realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation requires the efforts of generations. The Chinese nation has created a splendid civilization with a history of more than 5000 years, and will certainly create a more brilliant tomorrow.

On the way forward, the people of all ethnic groups in China should, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, adhere to the guidance of Marxism Leninism, Mao Zedong thought, Deng Xiaoping theory, the important thought of Three Represents, and the scientific outlook on development, carry forward the great spirit of patriotism and the great spirit of Anti Japanese war along the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics and in accordance with the strategic layout of "four aspects" Heart, rain or shine, toward our set goal to continue to forge ahead!

Let us bear in mind the great truth revealed by history: Justice wins! Peace will win! The people will win!
